History of Sunny Isles Beach

Sunny Isles Beach’s history might be short, but it is still quite prestigious. Also known as “Florida’s Riveria”, the city’s history goes back to the 1920s when it was connected to Miami Beach by the Haulover Bridge. Located north of Miami and facing Eastern Shores, the city became a must-go spot in the 50s and 60s when theme motels sprouted, attracting celebrities and tourists from all over the world during. During the snowbird season, the seaside resort was mainly inhabited by wealthy French Canadians escaping their homeland’s harsh winters.

The 1980s’ architectural metamorphosis

While the old motels were all demolished, luxury accommodation options are now plentiful: high-end condos were built along the shore on Collins Avenue by discerning international brands such as Porsche and Armani, which were aware of the real estate potential of such an enclave.
